Orcas Island
We visited Orcas Island for a 4 day weekend of kayaking, cycling, hiking, cooking, and relaxing. March is a good time to visit, it is still the off season so you can get good deals on lodging (we rented a little waterfront cottage for about 1/3rd it’s normal rate) and the crowds are lower, but the weather is good enough to spend most of your time outside. Everything was very green. I really enjoyed cycling the trails in Moran State Park and kayaking in West Sound.
That looks incredible. Details on the cottage?
The 4th picture from bottom would make a great desktop background.
Those trails look gorgeous.
http://www.homesteadorcas.com/ is who we rented the cottage from. We rented the Blackberry without the second bedroom. The other cottage is a little nicer and would be better for a couple, the Blackberry is nice if you have more people (we had 3).
The trail in the fog photo reminds me of this one that I took when mountain biking on Maui:

I”m glad you took the last picture of your car on the ferry. I kept wondering how you managed to get all that gear out to Orcas.
What a lovely place! It reminds me of Scotland. I especially like the field and big sky.
Love, M
Beautiful! My husband great up on Orcas Island, and remembers it mostly as a place he was bored as a pre-teen. I think it’’s lovely and keep wanting to go back. What a great trip! And that cabin, wow.
